Wonderful November!

November 2025

Hello friends,

I love November! The crisp air, my birth month, our wedding anniversary, my favorite marathon cooking holiday, and it's our 5th anniversary on the farm. This month has been filled with HUGE surprises, big numbers, and so much love.

50... I am not a big birthday person, but the hubs was determined that this milestone needed a real celebration, ha. And fine… I'll admit it. I ended up having the best time. We filled the house with the friends we've made over the last five years, and looking around the room, I could actually see the little community we've built here. My brother showed up from Texas as a surprise, and I wept like a baby. It was a grand and very love-filled celebration.

I also received one HUGE surprise this November: A Ruby. A 1,500-pound, beautiful, love-filled, ready-for-adventure Ruby. My heart is so full, and I am in love. Meet our newest family member, Ruby, y'all!

20... The following weekend, the husband and I celebrated two decades of marriage by going to an exceptional, and I do mean outstanding, place for an exquisite and one-of-a-kind dining experience. The only way I can summarize is by saying, you know, if you look at the most beautiful picture of food, and how you hope or imagine that food could taste, every freaking bite was like that!

5... I can not begin to sum up the lessons, hilarious moments, hard days, and heartbreaking goodbyes that have come with farm life over the last five years. At the Forest Farmers Market last weekend, after chatting with me, a couple of people told me they wished they could start a farm and live off the land, too. My answer is always: you absolutely can.

Farming is glorious, endlessly entertaining, never dull, wildly physical (thank goodness for Pilates), and yes, sometimes filled with real loss. But it is also brimming with joy and love in ways that still surprise me. Even on the hard days, I am grateful.

Our home was filled this week with family, friends, deep conversation, laugh-till-you-cry moments, and delicious food from the farm. We hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

With love and gratitude,

Rachael
