The Journey Is Part of It
There have been moments when someone has written to me with hesitation.
“I can’t find a direct flight.”
“It’s a bit of a drive from the airport.”
“It’s not the easiest place to get to.”
And they are right.
Heirloom Springs is not located outside a major city.
There is no shuttle waiting curbside at a bustling terminal.
You do not step off a plane and arrive ten minutes later.
You land.
You drive.
You wind through countryside.
You begin to leave things behind.
And that is not an accident.
If we were easier to get to, we would not be here. Not in this forest. Not between the mountains. Not in a place where the evenings are quiet enough to hear the creek, or see lightning bugs everywhere in June, and experience the morning light filtering through trees instead of buildings.
The 35 minute drive from Lynchburg.
The hour and fifteen from Charlottesville.
Even the longer stretch from Richmond. They are not obstacles.
They are thresholds.
There is something that shifts in that drive.
Your phone quiets.
Your shoulders lower.
The pace changes. And you breathe.
You begin arriving long before you pull into the driveway.
Retreat is not meant to feel like slipping into another appointment.
It is meant to feel like crossing into something different.
Yes, there are regional airports.
Yes, we help coordinate logistics.
Yes, guests fly in every season and make it seamlessly.
But more importantly, something happens because you chose to come.
Not because it was convenient.
Because it was intentional.
If Heirloom Springs were easy, it would not be what it is.
And perhaps the journey here is the first quiet act of saying,
“I am willing to go somewhere different.”
Guests fly in every season, from all over the country, even internationally.
The closest airports are:
• Lynchburg Regional, about 35 minutes away
• Charlottesville Albemarle, about an hour and fifteen
• Richmond International, about 2 hours and 15 minutes and often the best option for nonstop flights
Local car services are available, and we are always happy to guide you through the smoothest option based on where you are traveling from. We also have a local shuttle we like.
Many guests come solo.
Many have never traveled to this part of Virginia before.
And every single one finds their way here just fine.
Because once you decide to come, the path tends to unfold.
If Heirloom Springs were easy to get to, it would not feel the way it does when you arrive.
And perhaps the very act of choosing to make the journey is part of why the weekend feels different.
Not convenient.
Intentional.
And sometimes, that is exactly the point.
